Dr Adam Rosenthal is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist and one of the UK's leading experts on inherited gynaecological cancers. He is a research Associate at University College London and he treats patients privately at the Highgate Private Hospital, Weymouth Street Hospital and London Independent Hospital.
Dr Rosenthal qualified from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London and trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the Thames Deanery, London. He completed his Gynaecological Oncology specialist training at University College Hospital, London.
Dr Rosenthal is one of the UK’s leading experts on inherited gynaecological cancers. He sits on the UK Cancer Genetics Group Steering Committee and advises various medical charities including Ovacome and the Eve Appeal.

What is the significance of a family history of ovarian cancer?
For most women with a family history of ovarian cancer, their risk will not be much higher than that of the general public (only around one in seventy women get ovarian cancer in their lifetime).
If you have a first-degree relative with ovarian cancer, (mother, sister or daughter), then your risk may be increased to around one in twenty. This is considered to be moderately increased risk. However, in some circumstances women with just one relative with ovarian cancer can be at very high risk (up to 1 in 2) of getting the disease themselves.
