Medical Qualifications
Mr James Allibone qualified with a Bachelor of Science in 1986 and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1989 from The London Hospital Medical College. Mr Allibone was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 1993 and went on to be awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Surgical Neurology in 1999.
Medical Experience
Mr Allibone is a member of the Executive Council of The British Association of Spinal Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and is currently a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London and is available to see private patients at The Wellington Hospital Spinal Unit, London.
Mr Allibone and his colleagues can manage the whole spectrum of spinal conditions from straightforward degenerative conditions of the lower back and neck, through to infection and tumours, paediatric deformities, spinal injuries, as well as the most challenging and complex revisional cases. The team has considerable experience of minimally invasive surgery and disc replacement surgery and they have pioneered a number of novel techniques, including disc nucleoplasty, tube-based surgery and novel fixation techniques.
Mr Allibone has a particular clinical interest in the treatment of lower back and neck pain, sciatica, spondylolisthesis, cervical myelopathy, spinal tumours, syringomyelia, spinal injuries, alongside disc replacement surgery, minimally invasive spinal surgery, complex revisional lumbar surgery, and enhanced recovery.
