Medical Qualifications
Dr Philip MacCarthy completed a BSc (First Class Honours) from Bristol University in 1988, he went on to qualify with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Bristol Medical School in 1991. He completed a PhD at the University of Wales School of Medicine in 2000 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007.
Medical Experience
Dr MacCarthy is Clinical Director of Cardiovascular Services at King's College Hospital, London where he is also director of the primary angioplasty service and trans-catheter valve programme. He is the current chair for the Pan-London Heart-Attack Centre Committee and is a member of the British Cardiovascular Society, British Cardiovascular Intervention Society and European Association of PCI.
He is a Consultant Cardiologist at King's College Hospital and treats privately at the London Bridge Hospital. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Cardiology at King's College London, School of Medicine.
He specialises in general cardiology, cardiovascular risk factor control, angiopalsty and stenting (including radial [wrist] procedures), valvular heart disease including a large experience of TAVI procedures, PFO/ASD closure.
